Journey overview

This romantic trip is custom made for those wanting to explore the heart of Europe with a touch of romance. Visit the most romantic cities in Europe and enjoy falling in love again and again.

ITALY – SLOVENIA – CROATIA – MONTENEGRO 12 days (optional 8 or 10 days)

Day 1: ARRIVAL TO ROME – CAPITAL OF ITALY (dinner)
Transfer to the hotel. Afternoon/evening romantic SPA treatments on your request. Dinner.

ROME - Empire’s Worth of History, Food, Civilization, and Catholicism

Italy’s capital is enormous, sometimes bewildering, often stunning and exhilarating. What else could one expect from a city that once ran a vast empire and now contains an entire separate nation, the heart of a major religion, within its borders? Though the empire crumbled long ago, the city is constantly vibrant. Standing in the city center by the Forum, it’s easy to feel that you’re living inside a giant postcard, with crumbling ruins on one side and the commanding sight of the ancient Colosseum rising above the rooftops on the other. The evidence of more recent history is also omnipresent here; most spectacularly in Vatican City, where people pour into St. Peter’s Basilica and Square and the famous Vatican Museums to worship, gawk, and wonder at everything from the Pope to the Sistine Chapel. However, though aged sights are abundant in Rome, the city is anything but elderly, and it is certainly not tired. The fashion is high-class here, the shopping opportunities countless, the cuisine delicious, the gelato heavenly, and the traffic absolutely ferocious, in both speed and volume. If you want a fast-paced day of historical sightseeing or just a slow afternoon with a cappuccino, Rome offers both and everything in between.

Day 2: ROME – ORVIETO (breakfast, dinner)
After breakfast we’ll visit busy city with an enormous number of monuments, churches and squares. We’ll take tour to see the Colosseum, the Spanish Steps, the Pantheon, the Sistine Chapel and the famous Trevi Fountain. When it comes to churches, there is one must see – St Peter's Basilica in Vatican, which is the largest church in the world and the ultimate symbol of Catholicism. Afternoon free to see some museum or do some shopping. In late afternoon drive to the land of chocolate and kisses, Umbria (approx. 2 hours). Night in Orvieto.

Day 3: ORVIETO – PERUGIA – FLORENCE (breakfast, dinner)
After breakfast you will discover this romantic city full of impressive monuments, churches and noble buildings - some are over 2,500 years old. The city is situated on a rock, most likely due to an ancient volcanic eruption. The geological setting that characterized the entire central part of the Italian peninsula was a large expanse of water that over the years saw emergence of land. After drive to the most chocolate town in Italy, Perugia. Lifted by a hill above a valley patterned with fields, where the Tiber River runs swift and clear, Perugia is Umbria's petite and immediately likeable capital. Its historic center rises in a helter-skelter of cobbled alleys, arched stairways and piazzas framed by magnificent mansions. History seeps through every shadowy corner of these streets and an aimless wander through them can feel like time travel. After sightseeing stop at famous chocolate factory, where you will say I love you in the Italian way, with Bacci chocolates. CNN named the Casa del Cioccolato one of the top five destinations for chocolate lovers and The New York Times listed Casa del Cioccolato as must see for anyone visiting Perugia. After drive to Florence (approx. 2,5 hours).

Day 4: FLORENCE – VERONA – VENICE (breakfast, dinner)
After breakfast visit the attractions of Florence: Duomo inside/outside (the only church in Florence with a free entrance), Battistero just outside to visit its famous bronze gates, Accademia to see the original David by Michelangelo, Santa Croce convent where Michelangelo, Galileo and other Italian glories are buried, Signoria square and Old Bridge area. After that we will drive to the ancient city of Verona (approx. 3.5 hours), with its famous love story of Romeo and Juliet. If you take a walk through the streets of Verona and its marvelous historical center, you are bound to be fascinated by its buildings, powerful and elegant at the same time, as well as by the passionate feeling of the two Shakespearian lovers. Even if the legendary component of the Romeo and Juliet history is unquestionable, walking through the Verona center you will feel the power and elegance of its wonderful houses and squares, as if you were living in the two lovers’ times. After sightseeing Verona we continue towards Venice (approx. 1,5 hours). Night in the hotel.

VENICE - Floods of Romance
The mere mention of Venice immediately conjures romantic images: quaint scenes of lovers on gondolas, slowly drifting down a tranquil canal. In reality, these fabled waterways are often polluted, flooding, traversed by commuters and tourists on modern waterbuses, and yes, quite lovely and astonishing. Experiencing a city without automobiles will be a new adventure for most visitors -- Venice is the largest car-free zone in Europe! There are plenty of connecting streets or footbridges for those who avoid using boats. Of course, there is more to Venice than just the canals. This city has a rich and remarkably complex history; in the past, it was not only a city, it was the Republic of Venice, an independent state and a pivotal center of international trade, which tended to complicate its relations with other bodies. Now that this remarkable city has joined Italy (more than 200 years ago), it continues to charm visitors with its lovely architecture, music, exuberant Carnival, and world-famous Biennale art exhibition. However, you might have to act fast – after all, the city is sinking, and an alarming number of Venetians have ended up with water in their living rooms.

Day 5: VENICE – HEAVEN (breakfast, dinner)
Breakfast. Enjoy a walk through a labyrinth of streets and narrow passageways in the old artisans quarters of Venice and listen to numerous stories of the illustrious merchants and their acts of cruelty. During this walk, you'll see some of the oldest houses in Venice, quaint picturesque bridges and palaces, an old prison for tax evaders and learn about how life used to be in Venice and how life is today for the modern day Venetians. Enjoy an in-depth tour of St. Marks Basilica, a highlights tour of the Doges Palace which will include crossing the bridge of sites, and as a grand finale cruise along the main street of Venice - The Grand Canal. After drive to Livek (approx. 2,5 hours), with one of the most romantic accommodations you can imagine, named Heaven. Time for SPA treatments on your request.

Day 6: HEAVEN – VRŠIČ –  KRANJSKA GORA –  BLED (breakfast, dinner)
After breakfast we will drive to highest pass in Slovenia, Vršič 1611m. Breathtaking mountain scenery will show you unspoiled nature. Short walk around Jasna lake. The lake is guarded by a statue of a Zlatorog (golden horn), the legendary chamois of Mt. Triglav. Time for some amazing photo shots and after drive to Kranjska Gora, one of the most prestige skiing resorts in Slovenia. Stop for lunch in gourmet restaurant. After a nice traditional lunch, we will head to the number one tourist attraction Bled. Afternoon guided stroll along beautiful lake Bled and visit of the small island with a church in the middle of the lake with rowing boat and the rower. Romantic walk in the evening or SPA treatments on your request.

Then guide will take you  along river Ljubljanica which is full of bars and restaurants and you will ride funicular to romantic Ljubljana Castle and see city from above. Time for some shopping. After drive to visit famous and romantic castle Otočec, one of the most popular places to get married, besides Bled. Then drive to the first elite countryside luxury apartment complex Pule. Optional visit of their wine cellar. In the classical ambience with carefully considered details, the cellar keeps a rich variety of wines from world’s most renowned wine-growing regions, while special place is given to the wines produced by Slovenia’s best wine producers. Their excellent wines will stir your soul and heart. Spa treatments on your request.

Day 8: OTOČEC – POSTOJNA CAVE – ROVINJ – OPATIJA (breakfast, dinner)
Breakfast. Drive to Postojna cave and visit probably the most extensive caves in Europe. This is definitely one of the highlights of the tour. Cave in which you enter by train is full of stalagmites and stalactites and other karst wonders. But the biggest attraction is Human Fish, an animal which lives only in this cave and nowhere else. After visit of Rovinj (approx. 2,5 hours), the most beloved town in Istria, a top sight in Croatia, and one of its most romantic spots. With its pastel-colored houses clustered together on steep winding streets and topped by a Venetian bell tower, you would think you were in Italy. After drive to Opatija (approx. 1,5 hours), fashionable and romantic Riviera town. Dinner.

Day 9: OPATIJA  – PLITVICE – SPLIT (breakfast, dinner)
Breakfast. Then we drive to National park Plitvice (approx. 3 hours) which is Unesco World Heritage Site.
