Journey overview

Mallorca

Capdepera Golf. The natural beauty and incomparable tranquillity of its surroundings characterise the privileged location of what surely must be one of the most beautiful golf courses in Mallorca.

Designed by the North American architect Dan Maples, Capdepera Golf was inaugurated in 1989. It is an 18 holes, par-72 course with a balanced distribution that requires precise play. Expert golfers, as well as beginners, will find their individual challenge on this course.

Capdepera Golf stands out for its spacious greens, the charming combination of long, wide fairways with other narrower ones, and its six lakes. Its first holes are comparatively flat, with the odd dogleg surrounded by water to make the game more interesting. The last 6, more intricate holes, are hidden among the mountains of Arta. Particularly attractive is the par-3 15th hole, which apart from having given more than 1 player the satisfaction of getting a birdie, offers incredible views of the valley and the Mediterranean sea.

Capdepera Golf has the splendid and renowned Roca Viva restaurant, famous for its exquisite cuisine and friendly service. Located on the edge of the 18th green, it invites golfers to rest after a successful round, and enjoy the company of fellow players.

Pro Shop facilities of Capdepera Golf are located on the ground floor of the club house. The Pro Shop offers everything that you need, including reservations, professional golf classes and information on any aspect of the course.

What Clients Say:

Capdepera has a superbly designed 19th hole; unfortunately you cannot say that of the proceeding 18. One leaves the course wondering why it has been a curiously unsatisfying experience; the holes were pleasant - some with spectacular views, the fairways were well presented, approach shots were interesting, the greens themselves were nice enough (if a tad slow). Gradually you realise - it’s the start of the holes. In a misguided effort to lengthen the course, men’s white tees have been pushed back: either too far from the previous green, or annoyingly offset behind bushes, or round corners to provide blind drives and doglegs never intended.  And, in an attempt to allow the improving lady golfer to begin the hole (a reasonable idea in principle given some of the carries), the reds have been pushed forward beyond the tees, so they are now roughly mown, un-level bits of fairway. To cap it all, the information and yardage (metreage) boards are positioned such that their contents have long since been forgotten by the time the teeing area is eventually reached. All of these errors could be negated, I suppose, by agreeing to play off the middle tee, as originally intended. The practice facilities are fine and the pro’s shop is well stocked - with golf bling, not a club in sight. Capdepera is a good course spoiled, but for a scenic walk and a spot of lunch it’s hard to beat.  Nov 12

A course suitable for all standards. The first 12 holes are laid out over a large flat plain. This area can get quite wet at times. The holes vary in length but there is very little heavy rough. A number of the holes require tee shots across water. The final 5 holes climb into the mountains and can get quite tight. The last hole is a short par 5 and requires a drive across an open gorge. Generally the course is in good condition and is walkable. The bar and restaurant are situated within a very pleasant patio area. The food is good and portions can be quite large. The pro shop and bar staff are friendly. All in all it offers a pleasant day out. Oct 12

Good condition for time of year, although we had to dodge sprinklers a few times! Some fairways were soft underneath as a result. In better overall condition than Pula though. Jul 12

Capdepera has always been special to our party. The staff there are always very friendly and helpful, and the course is in a good shape for the amount of traffic that passes through it every day. Sep 11

Both Capdepera and Canyamel were excellent - Capdepera just wins for the ambience of the clubhouse terrace. May 11

Fairways, greens, and driving range well maintained. Excellent club house. Apr 10

The course was in great condition, but not too severe a test - hence enjoyable. Nov 09

Best layout of the courses I played and a great atmosphere. Jun 09

A well presented, interesting course. The main downside was that the greens had been newly sanded and we were not told about this before we set out. June 08

Really demanding course with some stunning holes, such as the 13th. Good Pro's shop and excellent catering on the terrace. Oct 07
